About The Snooty Pooch Group

"A community organisation, driven by local people who, through their own lived experiences find solutions to local problems that effect the way we live, learn and thrive".

We are the change-makers, the do-ers, the community collaboraters, who shape the projects and services we need, at the time we need them. Local people share  problems they are facing with us , so we know first hand the current issues, barriers and inequalities local  people face, and together we try and find a solution through the community pojects we deliver. This can including health, wellbeing, education and skills, lack or gaps in local provision or ways to reduce isolation and loneliness. With the support of industry experts and a team of qualified health, wellbeing and community professionals, we are able to provide a range of meaningful services - grassroots in spirit and always professionally informed.

At the heart of our work is the belief (and evidence) that the presence of our highly trained pastoral dogs create. Their magic paws and ability to sniff out the hormones that tell them how people feel, is powerful and truly transformational. With high levels of emotional intelligence, the ability to understand non verbal commands and knowing the perfect time to encourage moments of calm, they make perfect companions. The care and purpose people provide with the comfort and companionship the dogs bring, creates a unique symbiotic partnership that naturally nurtures wellbeing and connection.

Our Founder

The Snooty Pooch Group was founded by Sarah-Amie Treanor at the start of the pandemic. Her son, who was nine at the time, was struggling with anxiety, depression, and agoraphobia. With statutory services stretched to their limits and children’s mental health services overwhelmed, support simply wasn’t available when it was needed most.

During a conversation with their doctor, the suggestion was made to consider getting a dog for therapeutic support — something that could bring her son comfort, purpose and to share worries without judgement. Taking this advice to heart, Sarah spent time researching the benefits of canine companionship and trained to become a Canine-Assisted Support Handler. The impact on her son was transformational and Sarah was determined to share the power of paws with people experiencing similar challenges

With over 15 years’ experience leading community charities in health and wellbeing, supporting children, young people, and marginalised communities, it felt like a natural step to bring this experience together with her new understanding of the role dogs can play in people’s lives.

Inspired by the change she had witnessed at home, Sarah created The Snooty Pooch Cafe - a place where people and dogs could come together for connection, comfort, and support . The  popular cafe soon revealed something even bigger — the need to reach people wherever they were.

Today, The Snooty Pooch Group delivers services directly within communities, working in schools, care homes, family homes, and organisations across the West Midlands.

Over the years, Sarah’s work supporting communities has been recognised through a number of honours and awards. including The prestigious High Sheriff Award, the British Empire Medal (BEM), an MBE, and was the CEO of a team awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, recognising outstanding contributions to community life.

Sarah has also served as a community youth advisor to Downing Street, helping to shape discussions around policies affecting young people and their future opportunities.

Despite these recognitions, her motivation has always remained the same — a deep commitment to supporting people who may need a little extra understanding, encouragement, and sometimes simply the comfort of a friendly paw.

The Snooty Pooch Group is more than an organisation. It's the result of a personal journey that showed just how powerful the bond between people and dogs can be. Today, that same belief continues to guide the organisation’s work — helping people feel less alone, grow in confidence, and take positive steps towards brighter futures.
