Summer HAF SEND Family Day Trip 2026

Dog Squad is seeking expressions of interest from caring, reliable and enthusiastic individuals to support a planned Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) family day trip as part of our Summer HAF Programme.

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy supporting children, young people and families, and who are passionate about helping create positive, inclusive and accessible experiences for children with additional needs.

Please note that this is currently an expression of interest only. The trip is taking place on Sunday 19th July 2026.

⏰ Hours

Approximately 10:00am – 6:00pm

 


 

📍 Location

Travel from Chelmsley Wood, Solihull to Stratford-upon-Avon.

The day will include:

  • Coach travel to and from Stratford-upon-Avon
  • Visit to Stratford Butterfly Farm
  • Shakespeare-themed family treasure hunt
  • Lunch provision
  • Family activities and free time to explore

 


 

đŸļ About the Role

As a SEN Family Support Worker, you will help ensure families have a positive, enjoyable and supported experience throughout the day.

Unlike a traditional childcare role, parents and carers will remain responsible for their children throughout the trip. Your role will focus on providing practical support, reassurance, guidance and helping the day run smoothly for everyone attending.

You will be part of a friendly and supportive Dog Squad team and will be supervised by experienced staff throughout the event.

 


 

🐾 Main Responsibilities

  • Welcoming families upon arrival and supporting the registration process
  • Helping families board and disembark the coach safely
  • Providing a friendly, reassuring and supportive presence throughout the day
  • Supporting children and families to access activities and attractions
  • Assisting with registration and entry at Stratford Butterfly Farm
  • Helping coordinate and distribute lunch provision
  • Supporting positive engagement and inclusion throughout the trip
  • Assisting families who may require additional guidance or reassurance
  • Supporting health, safety and safeguarding procedures
  • Helping maintain a positive, calm and welcoming atmosphere
  • Assisting with the return journey and departure arrangements

💛 Experience

Experience supporting children, young people or adults with SEND is desirable but not essential.

We recognise that some of the best support workers are those with the right attitude, empathy and communication skills. We welcome expressions of interest from individuals with personal, voluntary or professional experience supporting children, young people or families.

This role may be particularly suitable for individuals who are alreay working in (or interested in):

  • A parent / carer with lived experience rather than qualifications
  • Childcare
  • Youth Work
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Community & Family Support

Successful applicants may be required to attend a paid pre-delivery briefing before the trip.
